Rating Meters
--by vknet | Last Updated: October 2, 2011
Our unique rating system lets you know at a glance how hot, sweet or tear-inducing other readers have found a particular story, picture, video, bunny, doujinshi, etc.
The meters are not indication of how good an entry is or isn’t. Rather, they are flavor indicators. High values and low values on any given meter are neither bad nor good, they are simply indicators of how sweet, sad or hot other viewers have found that particular entry. It’s like saying a dish of food tangy and sweet, or spicy with a dash of lemon. The rating meters are meant to be descriptors. So don’t worry about giving a low rating (or no rating) on a meter – for example, if it’s a funny story, you aren’t going to rate it high, or at all, on the tissue meter – and that’s a good thing. It’s all about the entry’s particular content.
We’re not always in the mood for the same flavor. Sometimes we crave something sweet, or something hot, or something sad, or something that is a particular mix of all of the above. The meters help you find something that will suit your apatite at the moment, whatever it is. Ratings are listed on the entries themselves, and they also appear as sort options in the side menu in many sections.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
Sweet meter
How much did you feel like going “aw!” when reading or looking at the entry? Did it give you warm fuzzies? Was it completely melt-you-to-goo-sweet, or perhaps just a little on the cute side at moments? Use the sweet meter to indicate how sweet you found something.
Tissue meter
Was the entry sad or touching? Did you tear up? Was it a real tear-jerker that made you want to bawl, or perhaps you just sniffled a little? Tear-inducing touching moments might rate lower while death scenes might rate higher, but it’s all up to how it made you feel. Use the tissue meter to indicate how much an entry made you want to reach for the tissue box.
Nosebleed meter
Was the entry sexy and steamy? Did it give you a fan-style “nosebleed”? Was a cold shower in order afterwards? Did it make your pulse race and your face hot, or just make you drool a little? Use the nosebleed meter to indicate how hot you found something.
