Sayori Wakaba, known as Yori to her friends, is a human Day Class student at Cross Academy. She is Yuki’s roommate and best friend in school. Serious, loyal and low-key, she is not one of the Night Class fangirls like many of her peers, but neither is she overly frightened when she finally learns that they are vampires. Her feelings towards Yuki do not change at all when she finds out that her friend is also a being of the night. She is friendly towards Zero as well and attempts to keep him from failing classes as a result of skipping tests.

Yori is practical, friendly and loyal. She was aware of Zero’s feelings for Yuki long before Yuki was and knew something was going on with Yuki when the walls blocking her memories began to crumble. She accepts the existence of vampires in a straightforward manner and believes that they can be both good and bad, because Yuki is good and a vampire. This is confirmed in her mind after Kaito sneaks her into a vampire ball where she gets to see Yuki again for the first time after Yuki left school. She later tries to convince Zero that Yuki hasn’t changed and that he shouldn’t hunt her. She seems to be trying to look out for Zero at school and would like for he and Yuki to make up.
