By posting fanfiction on Vampire Knight Online you are agreeing to abide by the following rules.
No SPAM
Anything that is not in fact a story will be deleted, especially if it is advertising related. Offenders will probably be banned.
Must be Vampire Knight Related
This site is dedicated to VK, that’s why it exists. As such, all stories posted here should be about Vampire Knight and its characters in some way. Crossovers and original characters are fine, but Vampire Knight needs to be a main part of the story in order for it to be posted on this site.
Linking to off-site fanfiction
It is perfectly all right to use the fanfiction submission form to link to a story that is posted elsewhere, as long as you include all the header information for the story, including title, summary, disclaimers, etc. in the appropriate fields on the submission form, and in the body of the story post itself. Then under that you can just put something like: Read the story here: and insert or copy and paste the link to your fic on fanfiction.net, livejouranl.com, archiveofourown.org, or wherever it is. You can include the first chapter of the story as well, or an extended summary of it, or just the header as already stated, but do not just post the link by itself. More description means more people are likely to be interested enough to click through and read your story, so it’s for your own benefit to give them a reason to do so by letting them know what the story’s about.
Other Links
Except for links to other places on this site or external links to fanfiction as described above or to fan art that is based upon the fanfiction being submitted, no other external links should be inserted into fanfiction submissions. They will be removed, and if it is determind that they qualify as SPAM the SPAM rules will apply.
No Plagiarism / theft
You may only post your own works on this site, with the exception of collaborative / co-authored works or things that have been translated into another language with the permission of the original creator. Any entries proven to be plagiarism will be removed by the admins and the offending user may possibly have their account deleted and banned.
Rate your stories appropriately
It’s hard to decide sometimes, but just do your best and err on the side of caution. Please use the definitions found on http://www.fictionratings.com as a guideline.
Titles and Summaries must always be appropriate for general audiences
Titles and Summaries should be K-T rated, even if the story is MA.
Spell Check, Proofread and Format Responsibly
Use software that spell checks for you, have a friend do it, whatever. Just do it. :] We all thank you. Read your story over at least once before posting it and try to catch and fix any errors before posting. That said, it’s understood that errors are bound to happen and people have different levels of language skill and knowledge. Just do your best, it will help everyone enjoy your stories even more. Use formatting responsibly, sometimes it can add good effect, but a little goes a long way. It’s difficult and irritating to read something if the text is improperly formatted (liKe ThIs foR exAmpLe), or ALL IN CAPS. It makes you look like you don’t know what you’re doing, and none of us want that, right?
Be Nice to Reviewers
…when they deserve it, anyway. :] If someone offers advice or constructive criticism in the spirit of honestly trying to help you improve your writing then understand that they’re trying to help and be polite about it, whether or not you agree. If they’re being unnecessarily ugly, then just ignore them. If it qualifies as bashing or flaming, use the “report abuse” link on the comment to report it to the admin and we will look into the matter. For the most part, reviewers and writers should both simply remember that we’re all entitled to our own opinions, and if you can’t say something nice… sometimes it’s better to say nothing , or at least find a nice way to express our opinions.
Don’t submit the same story more than once. Duplicates will be removed.
Once is enough. ‘nuf said.
Don’t type up or copy entire portions of published, copyrighted works and claim them as yours.
This goes along with plagiarism. If it’s not yours, don’t claim it, especially if somebody can legally go after you. Because this is FAN fiction, there’s obviously no restrictions on using scenes and dialogue from the VK books or anime as part of your story as long as it’s part of the story and not the whole thing. Unless it’s a crossover, there’s no excuse for taking chunks of non-VK related work from the published realm either – for example, stealing a chapter from Twilight, replacing the names and calling it yours is just dumb. And not allowed. Such things will be deleted. Likewise, if you’ve taken someone else’s fanfiction and posted it as yours, that’s another big no-no and will result in the offending story being deleted. Such activity may result in banning.
Rule Changes and Updates
These rules may be updated at any time without notice, you are responsible for checking them each time before you post a new story to make sure that you are in compliance with them.
Have Fun!
Yes, it’s a rule, so you MUST! Fanfiction is supposed to be about fun and enjoyment. Let’s all keep it that way and have a great time!
