Sara Shirabuki is a Pureblood Vampire. First seen at one of the Vampire Society Soirées early on in the series, Sara has more recently proved herself to be an important, guiding figure of chaos in the brewing conflict stirring in the Vampire Knight world. One of the few living pureblood females, Sara likes to appear gentle and friendly, however she has proved herself capable of acting cleverly, cautiously and cruelly.

Clever, regal and motivated, Sara would be Queen of all vampires and seems to be working towards that end. She is well versed at using sweetness and disarming charm to get her way but is not afraid to get her hands dirty either – tearing open Takuma’s wounds when refuses to give her information about Kaname, turning and using a hunter to kill her fiancé so she can consume his life and attempting to murder and consume another pureblood while he was in hibernation sleep. Before Yuki’s awakening, Sara appeared outwardly interested in a possible relationship with Kaname Kuran. She is now gathering power by killing and devouring other purebloods (starting with her Fiancé Ouri and including a failed attempt on the hibernating Hanadagi pureblood) and by taking over the Ichijo Empire through Takuma Ichijo whom she is keeping under her control. She has a fondness for young girls and has turned almost an entire human female boarding school, with the girls’ adoring ‘consent’.
She intends to use Kaname, Yuki and Zero against one another if she can in order to further her plans. She had originally intended to ask Takuma’s grandfather to “give” Takuma to her as a present, but after she found Takuma unconscious, with part of his heart cut out after his fight to the death with his grandfather, Sara simply took him. Even though Takuma won’t give her information about Kaname, she puts him to many other uses, including running her errands and serving her.
Sara is the current President of the re-instated Night Class at Cross Academy, although she claims she doesn’t want the responsiblity and will let Yuki do the work.
