Takuma Ichijo is a Noble Class vampire from the wealthy and powerful Ichijo family. They run a vast business empire and are considered a very important family in the vampire world. His grandfather was senior member of the Council of Elders. Takuma has a bright, cheerful personality and is very approachable. It is often remarked that he doesn’t seem like a vampire at all. He is a “day owl”, often staying up all day instead of sleeping and he apparently has less issues with sunlight than some of his fellows. He loves parties and manga, is an extremely avid reader and an occasional smoker (cigarettes).

Takuma is friendly and cheerful, while capable of being deadly and determined when the situation requires. His constant smile and upbeat attitude, even in dark or painful situations sometimes make it difficult to tell what he’s really thinking or feeling. Kaname grew up in his house and as a result Ichijo understands and is more comfortable with him than most other vampires. He seems to understand the burden that being a pureblood can be, and is not particularly reverent or afraid of them. In school he took his roommate, Senri Shiki, under his wing and looked after him, becoming quite close to both Senri and Rima Touya as a result. He is very loyal to his friends and will protect and stand up for them no matter the cost.
Takuma seems to constantly find himself in the position of being placed between conflicting loyalties and powers which desire to use him. His Grandfather wanted to use him against Kaname, but Takuma would not betray his friend, ultimately leading to fight to the death between grandfather and grandson in which Takuma was the victor, although barely. When Rido possessed Senri’s body, Takuma served him to keep Senri’s safe, while actually remaining loyal to Kaname. He was not afraid to stand up to Kaname either when Kaname and Rido’s struggle threatened to harm Senri. Now taken and being kept as a servant by pureblood Sara Shirabuki, Takuma once again finds himself having to serve an opposing faction which wishes to use him, and still refuses to betray Kaname, even under duress.
