Toga Yagari

Toga Yagari

yagari

Toga Yagari is one of the best Vampire Hunters in the Association. Both Zero and Ichiru Kiryu were his apprentices before Zero was turned and Yagari also trained Kaito Takamiya. He lost his right eye protecting young Zero from a Level E vampire. Despite this, he is the number one marksman in the hunter ranks and his skills at tracking, hunting and taking down his prey are well known in both the hunter and vampire worlds. In addition to his eye patch, he is also usually seen wearing his trademark cowboy hat and a full length leather duster. He smokes cigarettes and has very keen senses. Although he likes to pick on the older man’s ideals, he is friends with Kaien Cross, whom he has known since he was a child. His age is unknown, but he appeared to be somewhere between 8-13 at the time of his first meeting with Kaien and looks to be somewhere in his mid-thirties now.

Yagari has a gruff attitude, but a good heart. He is very professional as a hunter and methodically destroys vampires on his list. He can seem merciless because he understands the harm that Level E vampires can do, and he knows that hesitating can cost him his life. He was ready to kill Zero if he showed signs of becoming a Level E, but it’s obvious that he cares about his young apprentice deeply and is glad that he didn’t have to make that call. He is often annoyed by Kaien’s idealistic goals and silly chatter, but he also obviously respects and his loyal to his friend.

He takes his duty as a hunter and protector of the innocent seriously, but in general seems to know where to find the balance between eliminating the dangerous vampires and using threats and psychology to deal with troublemakers who are just young and impulsive rather than being true menaces.
